The accommodation is basic but comfortable and there are enough rooms for a large family. The main house has 3 bedrooms and then there is a separate chalet (sleeps 2) and rondavel (sleeps 2) on the property.
We visited in May 2014 and were very fortunate to have great weather - the days were warm and sunny. It is only at night that you feel the chill!
The yard and surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful and blissfully peaceful, perfect for calming the mind and unwinding.
An ideal location for the family to bond and just enjoy the lovely views and quiet.
Great features:
* Stunning views, no traffic, absolute peace
* Enough bedrooms to accommodate a large group or family
* The chalet shares a bathroom with the rondavel but can be used as the 'honeymoon suite' if the rondavel is left empty and the kids stay in the main house
* Outside boma and braai
* Indoor fireplace - we kept it going from early evening until bed-time
Not so great features:
* There is only one toilet in the house and it is right by the kitchen
* Only a bath in the house - great for bubble-baths but if you prefer to shower, you have to share the chalet's shower (which involves a walk across the lawn - not great in winter)
* The kitchen is a bit small and very basic but it has what you need to prepare your meals
* The entire unit is tiled - take your warm fluffy slippers!
Price: Reasonable
Would we go back: Yes!
Recommended for: Family / group travel
The host/s: We never met the owners but they were very friendly over email and allowed us a late check-out on our last day. The staff that bring your wood etc. were very helpful
